Overview

Verified by Visa is a new service introduced by Visa International for secure online payment. It is a secure and easy-to-use service that aims to offer extra protection and security when you pay online

Now this new service is available for all HSBC personal Visa credit cardholders (main cards only) to register and use for free.

Why is it secure?

Password protection - HSBC's Verified by Visa enhances your Visa credit card with a personal password of your choice. When you shop at participating online stores, you enter your password in the same way you enter your PIN (Personal Identification Number)at an ATM. It means that only you can use your Visa credit card online, giving you the same assurances you have when you use your card in a physical store.

Extra protection with Personal Assurance Message - when you register HSBC's Verified by Visa service, you are asked to create your own Personal Assurance Message (PAM). When you pay online, remember to check your PAM before you enter your password to ensure that you are using the authentic HSBC's Verified by Visa service.

How does it work?

Register your Visa credit card for the HSBC's Verified by Visa service and assign your password for it. This is a one-time registration, once registered, you can use this service any time you like in the future.

Remark: any unauthenticated purchase made to your HSBC's Visa credit card will be declined during authorization if you have not registered for HSBC's Verified by Visa. However, so as not to inconvenience a purchase you make before registration, we will exceptionally process your payment if you successfully pass our conditional authentication* by providing your personal information.

*You are allowed to perform conditional authentications transactions without any limit of transaction number and amount. However, You will be required to register for Verified by Visa to perform any further transaction should You have given the wrong information for 3 times.

Verify that the authentication screen is genuine by checking the PAM, it is the one you created when you registered for the service.

Enter your password as a signature to authorise the transaction online and complete your purchase.

How to register Verified by Visa?


-	You will need an account in HSBC Internet Banking (online@hsbc). If you don't have it, please click here for the demo on the HSBC Internet Banking (online@hsbc) registration.
-	Go to www.hsbc.co.id and click on the "Log on" button.
-	Input your username, password and Security Device.
-	Once logged in to HSBC Internet Banking (online@hsbc), on the left menu, click on "Services", then click "Verified by VISA" and follow the process.

Sample online transaction using VBV

1.	Payment using HSBC Credit Card

	1.	Card Type: VISA / MasterCard
	2.	Card Number: This is a 16-digit unique numbers that can be found on the credit card above the expiry date
	3.	Card Holder name: this will be the name written on the Credit Card
	4.	Expiration date: date in which the credit card expired. The format is mm/yy (month/year)
	5.	CVV/CID Number: It is the last 3-digit number of a series of number that can be found on the back of the credit card next to the signature sticker

2.	Conditional Authentication

	1.	Expiration date: date in which the credit card expired. The format is mm/yy (month/year)
	2.	Date of birth: format is dd/mm/yyyy (date/month/year)
	3.	CVV/CID Number: It is the last 3-digit number of a series of number that can be found on the back of the credit card next to the signature sticker

	Notes: You are suggested to apply for VBV PIN for enhanced security. For more info please visit our website at www.hsbc.co.id

	VBV PIN

	1.	Personal Assurance Message: You can set the contains of this message when you make your VBV PIN
	2.	Password: you will need to register your own PIN through online@HSBC website

	Notes: Customer are expected to enter only their own made VBV password. This will ensure further enhanced security for your online transaction. Personal Assurance message that was set during creation of the password will ensure that the page is from HSBC.
