Limited) presence in Indonesia dates back to more than 125 years. Since
opened its first Indonesian office in Jakarta (which known as Batavia)
in 188, HSBC has had long history in Indonesia.
HSBC, with its global brand "HSBC Amanah", was the first foreign bank
to start providing Shariah - compliant banking services in Indonesia
starting 2003.
Shariah finance is a unique form of commerce in which financial
products and services offered to investors and customers are structured
so as to comply the Shariah law.
From its opening in 20 October 2003, HSBC Amanah Shariah has been
focusing on the corporate sector to meet their financing requirements
by arranging Shariah corporate deal from a plain vanilla Murabahah
financing to a complex syndicated deal.
After successfully offering products to corporate customers, HSBC
Amanah Shariah launched services to retail clients on March 26, 2007.
Shariah banking products and services are open to all people, both Moslem and non Moslem.
