Business Confidence Survey

What is the confidence level of local Entreprises towards Indonesian Economy?

In the first semester 2007, we had just conducted a survey of small and medium businesses' outlook together with 8 other countries in Asia Pacific region (Hongkong SAR, China, Korea, Taiwan, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia), involving around 1,800 respondents. In Indonesia, the survey involved in more than 900 companies with annual turnover less than USD 10 million.

Why Small and Medium business ?

Small and Medium businesses are the largest employer and job creator, and they represent the economic backbone of our economy.

According to BPS (National Statistic Agency) - January 2007, in Indonesia:

The number of workers absorbed by the small and micro enterprises totaled 50 million people..

62.68% of the workers worked at micro enterprises, while 21.91% worked at small enterprises

Based on their recent economic census (done every decade), the small and micro enterprises constitute more than 99% of the total enterprises

Measuring the confidence of local small firms is, therefore, important. The more confident these firms are, the more likely they are to invest locally. By their activities, collectively Small and Medium businesses are big wealth creators and represent an engine of economic growth.
